The group (G)I-DLE has raised the excitement for their comeback by releasing the music video for 'Girlfriend'.
On the 9th, their agency Cube Entertainment unveiled the music video for 'Girlfriend', a track from their mini album 'We are', through (G)I-DLE's official SNS channels.
Written and composed by member So-yeon, 'Girlfriend' is an electro-pop style song that combines rhythmic sounds with the members' unique vocal tones, delivering a message of comfort to a friend going through a breakup. The lyrics, such as 'Your girlfriend is better than a boyfriend', along with its catchy melody and sing-along chorus, make it an attractive track.
In the music video, (G)I-DLE transforms into supporters of a friend against the backdrop of Paris, the city of freedom and liberation. So-yeon chases a bus in the middle of Paris, Minnie walks while pulling a large trash can, and Woo-gi closes the trunk of a crashed vehicle, creating a mysterious atmosphere.
The scenes of Mi-yeon walking through the night streets as if being chased by a police car, and Shu-hwa showing an indifferent expression in the back seat of the police car, added to the tension. Among these, the shoes that fell from the trash can Minnie was pulling and the shoes stuck in the trunk closed by Woo-gi left a strong impression and sparked curiosity.
During the day, (G)I-DLE tracks mysterious men while checking their notebooks, and at night, they go to clubs with friends or run freely through the streets, conveying the song's atmosphere in a multi-dimensional way. The scene where the members enjoy a lively party and the police arrive to end it captured attention.
(G)I-DLE's mini album 'We are' includes a total of 6 tracks, including 'Girlfriend', 'Good Thing', 'Love Tease', 'Chain', 'Unstoppable', and 'It's Okay'. The new album featuring the 'Girlfriend' music video will be released on the 19th.
