A man in his 30s, who was sentenced to 2 years in prison in the first trial for breaking into broadcaster Park Na-rae's home and stealing valuables, has filed an appeal.

According to the legal community on the 15th, Mr. A, who is facing charges of theft and nighttime residential burglary, has submitted an appeal to the Seoul Western District Court's Criminal Division 1, which presided over the first trial. Previously, on the 3rd, the court sentenced Mr. A to 2 years in prison.

Mr. A is accused of breaking into Park Na-rae's home in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, on April 4 and stealing valuables worth tens of millions of won, including expensive jewelry.

The court explained the reasons for sentencing, stating, “The defendant has acknowledged the charges, expressed a willingness to surrender to the Yongsan Police Station, and the stolen items have been returned to the victim.” However, it also noted, “Considering that the defendant has a history of similar offenses, the significant amount of damage caused by each crime, and the victim's request for severe punishment.”

Meanwhile, Mr. B and Mr. C, who were charged with receiving stolen goods from Mr. A, were sentenced to fines of 2 million won and 3 million won, respectively, in the first trial. They did not file appeals, so the first trial's sentences have been finalized.
