PD Oh Da-young apologized once again regarding the controversy surrounding the teaser for ‘Let's Go to the Moon’.

On the morning of the 16th, a press conference for MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama ‘Let's Go to the Moon’ (written by Na Yoon-chae, directed by Oh Da-young and Jung Hoon) was held at MBC's new building in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. Attendees included Lee Sun-bin, Ra Mi-ran, Jo Ah-ram, Kim Young-dae, and PD Oh Da-young.

‘Let's Go to the Moon’ is a hyper-realistic survival story about three women from humble beginnings who dive into coin investment as they struggle to survive on their salaries.

PD Oh Da-young mentioned the recent racism controversy surrounding the teaser video, stating, “There was a burden. I should have worked more delicately, and I feel I need to show more of a reflective attitude for not doing so,” and apologized once again.

She added, “I realized again that Korean dramas are not just for domestic consumption. I have also thought that I need to cultivate and refine my awareness and sensitivity in various aspects.”

Recently, the production team of ‘Let's Go to the Moon’ released a teaser video. The video, which parodies a past ice cream advertisement, features Lee Sun-bin, Ra Mi-ran, and Jo Ah-ram dancing in Arabian-style costumes.

After the teaser video was released, it faced criticism for a lack of respect and understanding of Middle Eastern culture. In response to the controversy, the production team deleted the video and stated, “The recently released teaser for the drama ‘Let's Go to the Moon’ was created by parodying a famous ice cream advertisement from the 1980s and 1990s, based on the story of the drama set in a confectionery company. In this process, we failed to consider the perspectives of other cultures. The video has now been completely deleted. In the future, we will pay more attention to these aspects to avoid causing discomfort.”

‘Let's Go to the Moon’ will premiere on the 19th at 9:50 PM.
