Singer and actor Lee Seung-gi is set to take the stage on 'Immortal Songs' amid his declaration of severing ties with his in-laws.
On the 30th, the production team of KBS2's 'Immortal Songs' announced, "Lee Seung-gi will participate in the recording scheduled for May 12."
The recording will be themed '2025 Oh My Star'. Ten teams, including Choi Sung-soo & Ahn Sung-hoon, Park Wan-kyu & Baek Cheong-gang, Lim Tae-kyung & Jung Seon-a, Lee Young-hyun & Son Seung-yeon, BMK & Jo Jae-se, Ha Do-kwon & Lee Ah-reum-sol, Lee Seung-gi & Lee Hong-ki, Kim Jun-hoo & Choi Soo-ho, Kim Gi-tae & La Poem, Hong Ja & Lee Soo-yeon, will perform as duets.
This will be Lee Seung-gi's first official appearance since he declared the severance of ties with his in-laws on the 29th. Through his agency, he stated, "There have been ongoing legal issues raised against my father-in-law, and a fine was imposed in the retrial, but I have recently been indicted by the investigative agency due to similar illegal acts," adding, "As someone who has been waiting for the results based on family trust, I cannot contain my feelings of devastation regarding my father-in-law's misconduct."
He continued, "I deeply reflect on my hasty remarks made last year without thoroughly reviewing the matters related to my father-in-law," and expressed, "I believe that appropriate punishment must be imposed for the illegal acts, and I sincerely apologize for the pain caused to the victims who suffered due to my rash judgment."
Furthermore, he added, "The trust within the family has been damaged to a level that is difficult to restore, and after much contemplation, my wife and I have decided to sever ties with my in-laws. Moving forward, I will strive to uphold a more righteous value system and live with a sense of responsibility for a healthy society."
Attention is also focused on whether Lee Seung-gi's appearance will resolve the conflict between KBS and One Hundred. Lee Seung-gi's agency, Big Planet Made, is under the label of One Hundred, led by MC Mong, which had previously canceled the recording schedules of its artists, including Lee Soo-geun and Lee Mu-jin, due to the fallout from Xiumin's non-appearance on 'Music Bank' last March.
