Actress Go Yoon-jung revealed the behind-the-scenes of her first audition.
On the 30th, Go Yoon-jung appeared as a guest on tvN’s ‘You Quiz on the Block’.
On this day, Go Yoon-jung talked about her debut opportunity, saying, “My major was not acting. I had been into art for a long time. While I was in college, my sister, who studied photography, suggested I apply for ‘College Tomorrow’. I asked, ‘If I apply, will I get in?’ and it turned out I did. I received a response in a few days and was selected as the cover model.”
She continued, “(After seeing ‘College Tomorrow’) I heard that a management company contacted the department office. It was a path I had never considered, so I just replied, ‘I’m sorry.’ I told the department office that I hoped they wouldn’t give out my contact information, but somehow the person who got in touch was the CEO. (The CEO) said, ‘Why don’t you try it? Just give it a shot,’ and I thought, ‘That makes sense,’ so I took a leave of absence and started taking acting classes.”
Go Yoon-jung said, “That was around the time I was changing my major. I was trying to study, so I watched five movies a day like a marathon. I think I watched several hundred movies over three to four months.” This surprised everyone. She added, “I watched ‘Titanic’ when I was in college. I was so into it that when I looked for making-of videos, I found the scenes where they were discussing how to shoot this scene, and it was impressive. Painting is usually done alone, but I thought I wanted to be part of the team that makes movies, even if I’m not an actor.”
Go Yoon-jung's first audition was for the movie ‘Parasite’. The role was Jo Yeo-jung's daughter, played by Jeong Ji-so. Go Yoon-jung recalled, “I don’t remember it clearly like a dream, and it felt amazing like seeing a celebrity.” She continued, “(Director Bong Joon-ho) told me that I resembled Jo Yeo-jung. Since it was the role of Jo Yeo-jung's daughter, I was one of the final candidates because I resembled her.”
Regarding her popularity from ‘Moving’, Go Yoon-jung expressed, “Before, I heard more people say, ‘I enjoyed the drama’ than ‘I’m a fan.’ After that, I heard the most compliments about how well they watched ‘Moving’.”
On her acting career, Go Yoon-jung said, “Right now, it’s so much fun. I used to think, ‘Not knowing is a blessing,’ but as I gradually learn more on set, I feel that ‘it’s fun to know.’ So instead of worrying about the next set, I feel excited and look forward to it.”
She continued, “I wanted to rest because I couldn’t sleep while filming every day and had a lot of overseas shoots, but after four days of rest, I wanted to work again. Acting fiercely with my colleagues and creating something together was so rewarding and fun. So, I don’t want to part ways. The writers always write ‘Thank you for your hard work’ in the final script. I erase that and write ‘To be continued.’ I want to go back to work soon,” she laughed.
