Choi Joong-rak (53), who served as MBN's first correspondent in Washington, D.C., has been appointed as the main anchor for the news program 'News 7'.
In celebration of its 30th anniversary, MBN will implement a change in its news program anchors effective April 1.
Notably, Choi Joong-rak and Yoo Ho-jung will take on the roles of co-anchors for 'News 7', which has been hosted by anchor Kim Joo-ha for over ten years.
Choi Joong-rak expressed his determination as a new anchor, stating, "We must aim for the top in cable news."
He added, "I enjoy news that involves meeting people, listening to their stories, and participating directly. I believe there is no stronger influence than showing the scene itself," and expressed his desire to cover news from the field on 'News 7'.
Since joining MBN in 1999, Choi Joong-rak has reported on political and international news while covering the National Assembly, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Blue House, and the Ministry of National Defense. In 2012, while hosting MBN's 'News Plaza', he created a segment called 'Issue & Field Anchor' and reported live from various locations. He served as MBN's first correspondent in Washington, D.C. from 2021 until his return last year.
Yoo Ho-jung, who will be co-anchoring with Choi, joined MBN in 2017 and has worked in the social and political departments. In 2023, she hosted the current affairs and cultural program 'Pandora' solo. Yoo also stated, "One voice from the field conveys the news message more clearly than a hundred words from a reporter," and expressed her willingness to go wherever the news needs to be covered.
MBN stated, "We are committed to creating 'Better News' as part of our 30th anniversary slogan 'Make A Better Next,' and we will meet viewers with a more fair and trusted news program alongside our new anchors."
