BLACKPINK's Jennie opened up about her frustrations regarding the challenge culture ahead of her new song's comeback.
On the 30th, a video was released on the YouTube channel 'SookSook' featuring Jennie as a guest, where she shared her thoughts and preparations for her comeback.
On that day, Jennie said, "I prepared the album for a year. I worked hard on the music, but these days, just releasing a song doesn't mean people will listen to it," expressing her difficulties in promoting her comeback.
She added, "I don't really understand the feelings of the younger generation these days. I want to do what the fans like, but I don't know what to do."
In particular, she shared her thoughts on the challenge culture, which has become an essential element among K-pop idols. Jennie said, "I haven't really done a challenge properly yet. But no one has asked me to do it together," revealing her disappointment.
When the production team explained that many challenges take place in the waiting rooms of music shows, Jennie responded, "Every time I go, there’s no one in the hallway. Am I going on days when no one is there? I also hoped someone would ask me to join, but no one has asked."
In response, fans commented, "There must be idols lining up to do challenges with Jennie," "We are also waiting for the challenge," and "If Jennie suggests it first, it will probably follow in a line," sending messages of support.
Meanwhile, Jennie will release her new song 'Love Hangover' on the 31st and will officially start her solo activities with her first solo full-length album 'Ruby' on March 7.
