Associate lawyers Lee Jong-suk, Moon Ga-young, Kang Yoo-seok, Ryu Hye-young, and Lim Sung-jae showcase their unique lawyer characters.
The new tvN weekend drama 'Seocho-dong' (written by Lee Seung-hyun / directed by Park Seung-woo / planned by CJ ENM Studios / produced by Green Snake Media) will premiere on July 5, and character teaser videos have been released.
The released teaser video captures the characteristics of the five associate lawyers (lawyers employed by a law firm and receiving a salary) as they commute to the Hyungmin Building in the Seocho-dong legal town. Among the associate lawyers, who frequently change jobs and start their own practices, the capable and level-maxed Ahn Joo-hyung (played by Lee Jong-suk) has maintained a salaried lawyer's life for a remarkable nine years, stating, “It's most comfortable just doing what I'm told,” showing a rather indifferent reaction as he seems completely adapted to his current situation.
In contrast, Kang Hee-ji (played by Moon Ga-young), who has just become an associate lawyer and is starting her first day at Seocho-dong, confidently engages with both her fellow associate lawyers and passersby, showcasing her subtle social skills. Despite the fatigue that everyone else feels on their way to work, the ever-energetic Jo Chang-won (played by Kang Yoo-seok) boasts an incredible ability to chat, even amidst the numerous complaints from his lunch buddies.
The professional latecomer Bae Moon-jung (played by Ryu Hye-young), who runs around every morning with her eyebrows flying, relieves the stress of work and losses by sharing meals with her 'Avengers' (Avengers + lawyers), demonstrating her culinary leadership. Lawyer Ha Sang-ki (played by Lim Sung-jae), who treats his work-related fatigue with bonuses, exudes a social life aura with his trademark capitalist smile in front of clients.
The 'Avengers' group of five boasts a well-rounded hexagonal skill set, including competence, sociability, energy, appetite, and social life, and they gather during meal times to share food and camaraderie. Ahn Joo-hyung's remark, “Are we even colleagues?” hints at a relationship that seems a bit closer than just workplace colleagues, piquing interest.
Thus, 'Seocho-dong' promises a delightful life in Seocho-dong for the 'Avengers', who are busy bickering but genuinely care for each other's meals. Just like the phrase, “Forget the lawyers of the past!” it raises anticipation for what events will unfold in the daily lives of salaried lawyers who are dedicated to living their own lives rather than being heroes committed to a sense of duty and justice.
'Seocho-dong' will premiere on July 5 at 9:20 PM on tvN.
