Actress Lee Mi-sook (65) has shared her honest views on marriage while enjoying her single life for 18 years after her divorce.
On the 19th, a video titled “The day I took a ‘life brain cut’.. I discovered something new” was uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘Sook's Mi-sook’.
Known as one of the well-managed actresses in the entertainment industry, Lee Mi-sook shared various stories while resting at home after completing a brain health check-up in this video.
While watching a golf channel on TV, she started by saying, “These days, half of the evening broadcasts are about golf,” and then revealed, “Surprisingly, I’m also very interested in documentaries about foreign serial killers and dating violence,” catching attention.
When the production team asked, “Why are you interested in dating violence?” Lee Mi-sook jokingly replied, “I’m worried I might get killed while dating,” but quickly corrected herself, saying, “Don’t say that.”
She stated, “I don’t want to get married even a little,” adding, “In the comments, people say, ‘Why would you want to get married?’ I’m one of those who shout, ‘Why would I want to get married?’”
She emphasized, “If you’ve tried it once and failed, it’s a lesson not to do it again. That way, there can be some development in your life afterward. If you fail at that and keep trying again, you will fail again.”
Lee Mi-sook debuted in the entertainment industry in 1978 by winning a popularity award at the 3rd Miss Lotte pageant while she was a senior in high school. She quickly rose to stardom, winning the ‘Grand Prize’ at the first acting awards held after SBS's launch, as well as the Best Actress award at the Baeksang Arts Awards and the Grand Bell Awards.
She married plastic surgeon Dr. Hong Seong-ho in 1987, but after 20 years of marriage, they faced a divorce in 2007.
