SBS Anchor Kim Hyun-woo is stepping down from the ‘8 News’ anchor position after 8 years.
On the 19th, an SBS official told Maeil Business Star Today, “Anchor Kim Hyun-woo has been selected as a candidate for overseas training early this year and is expected to leave the ‘8 News’ anchor seat next month,” adding, “The successor has not yet been decided.”
Anchor Kim Hyun-woo joined SBS in 2005 as a reporter from the 13th class, starting as the weekend anchor for ‘Morning Wide’ in 2012, then becoming the weekday anchor for ‘Morning Wide’ and the weekend anchor for ‘8 News’, before taking the weekday anchor seat for ‘8 News’ in May 2017.
Known for his accurate pronunciation and stable hosting, Anchor Kim Hyun-woo is also famous for being the real-life model for the SBS drama ‘Jealousy Incarnate’ aired in 2016. It is rumored that Jo Jung-seok, who played a reporter-turned-anchor in the drama, sought advice from Anchor Kim Hyun-woo before filming.
Meanwhile, Anchor Kim Hyun-woo, who married weathercaster Lee Yeo-jin, 8 years his junior, in 2019, welcomed his first son in August the following year.
