In the show ‘Good Day’, actor Kim Soo-hyun was erased as G-Dragon showcased his shining producer side.
On the broadcast of MBC's entertainment program ‘Good Day’ on the 6th, the scene of the Good Day general meeting was revealed, which was heating up with a cherished item auction. Centered around G-Dragon, participants included Jo Se-ho, Jung Hyung-don, Defconn, Code Kunst, as well as Hwang Jung-min, Lee Soo-hyuk, Im Si-wan, Hwang Kwang-hee, Jung Hae-in, Kian84, Hong Jin-kyung, Kim Go-eun, Chef Ahn Sung-jae, Seventeen unit BSS, Aespa, CL, and more, as the group song recording for the Good Day project began, raising expectations. The highest moment was when Kim Go-eun and Aespa members confessed their fan feelings to each other, soaring to a peak rating of 4.2%. (Nielsen Korea metropolitan area standard)
The auction scene for the participants' cherished items was filled with fierce competition. Jung Hae-in presented a high-priced hat along with a t-shirt he actually wore in the drama ‘Mom's Friend's Son’. Chef Ahn Sung-jae, who said “My wife is a fan of Jung Hae-in,” competed with ‘luxury lover’ Kian84, and ultimately Kian84 embraced Jung Hae-in's cherished item. Meanwhile, Kim Go-eun caught attention by revealing a hip shirt and skirt she wore in the movie ‘The Love Story of a Big City’. Im Si-wan, who successfully bid, created a warm atmosphere by gifting the skirt to Hong Jin-kyung, who had coveted Kim Go-eun's cherished item.
With Aespa's participation, the auction heat intensified even more. In particular, Chef Ahn Sung-jae, the first Michelin 3-star chef in Korea, drew explosive interest by putting up a knife he purchased after starting his cooking journey as a cherished item. Both Im Si-wan and Aespa jumped into the auction, and once again, Jo Se-ho won the highest bid, earning the title of a donating angel. Additionally, running enthusiast Kian84 acquired the bone conduction earphones that Hwang Jung-min used while exercising, and Chef Ahn Sung-jae took home Hong Jin-kyung's guasha massager.
The highlight was undoubtedly the auction of G-Dragon's cherished items. In a mysterious envelope revealed by daily auctioneer Defconn, there was a G-Dragon voucher, also known as ‘Ji-yong voucher’, which promised that G-Dragon would do anything from being a concert guest, featuring, to cameo appearances in works, capturing everyone's attention. Among them, Aespa's Ningning humorously asked, “Can you catch cockroaches too?” causing laughter. The competition for the G-Dragon voucher was unprecedentedly fierce, and as the auction price soared above 10 million won, a special measure was taken. By writing down a uniform price of 2 million won, G-Dragon would choose, and the final owner of the ‘Ji-yong voucher’ went to Aespa.
With CL, G-Dragon's reliable secret weapon, joining in, the atmosphere of the general meeting heated up even more, and the group song that the participants would sing together was unveiled. G-Dragon introduced the group song as ‘Telepathy’ by the city boys, released in 1988, stating that it was a sophisticated song even now and that it was selected after much consideration because it was a song everyone could enjoy. As the funky rhythm of city pop flowed, everyone began to sway, and they also had a time to freely sing the entire song together.
Before the official recording, G-Dragon had a meaningful meeting with IU. He sought inspiration from IU, known as a ‘remake master’ who has received much love by reinterpreting senior artists' masterpieces in her ‘Flower Bookmark’ album series. IU empathized with G-Dragon's concerns about the pressure of remaking, saying, “I also often feel the burden of ‘Isn’t this damaging?’ at the same stage.” She then suggested the idea of sampling the original song, stating, “I think it’s meaningful just to bring a good masterpiece back to the surface,” which G-Dragon found very helpful, expressing gratitude towards his reliable colleague IU.
Then the long-awaited recording day arrived. G-Dragon shared his unique feelings, saying, “I should greet and start,” at a recording studio in Seoul where masterpieces by the late Kim Kwang-seok and Seo Taiji were born. With the group song confirmed, G-Dragon reinterpreted the existing song ‘Telepathy’ along with ‘From the Moonlight Window’ into one song. ‘From the Moonlight Window’, released in 1986, is also a song sung by the city boys, and G-Dragon created new rap parts that were not in the original and a sing-along part to reflect the meaning of ‘together’.
The first to arrive at the recording studio were the 88s Im Si-wan, Hwang Kwang-hee, and Jung Hae-in. For the music video shoot, all the cast members wore matching fashion of black jackets and jeans, and Jung Hae-in drew admiration with visuals like a movie protagonist. G-Dragon showcased his genius moments as a producer, syncing with the participants. Especially when Jung Hae-in's recording began, he quickly transformed from a friend to a producer, providing one-point lessons. Thanks to G-Dragon's close care as he rushed to the recording booth, Jung Hae-in's voice changed to be more edgy, surprising everyone. The recording proceeded successfully with Jo Se-ho showcasing various ad-libs and Im Si-wan adding points with his dialect.
At the end of the broadcast, Day6, the trending band of 2024, also appeared in the recording studio with Jung Hyung-don, raising expectations even more. Day6 expressed that just receiving direction from G-Dragon was on their bucket list, revealing their fan feelings. Among them, Young K confessed that he returned to Korea dreaming of becoming a singer after seeing G-Dragon during his study abroad. The Day6 members showed their chemistry by effortlessly stacking harmonies even during the practice recording, and G-Dragon applauded, saying, “You’re really good?” and entrusted the harmony of the chorus of ‘From the Moonlight Window’ to them.
As the broadcast neared its end, CL's appearance heightened curiosity even more. Viewers are eagerly anticipating what kind of song will be born from the combination of their voices. Meanwhile, it was reported that the total amount from the participants' cherished item auction that day was donated to the National Disaster Relief Association, adding significance. ‘Good Day’ is a music project where G-Dragon completes the song of the year with various figures, airing every Sunday at 9:10 PM.
