As the debut team for ‘Boys Planet 2’ has been confirmed, the friendship between members Lee Sang-won (22) and Lee Rio (23) has touched the hearts of viewers.
In the final live broadcast of Mnet’s ‘Boys Planet 2’ aired on the 25th, Lee Sang-won, Jo Woo-an, Heo Shin-long, Kim Gun-woo, Zhang Jiahao, Lee Rio, Jung Sang-hyun, and Kim Jun-seo were confirmed as members of the debut team Alpha Drive One (ALPHA DRIVE ONE, AD1).
Notably, the joint debut of Lee Sang-won and Lee Rio, who are both from Big Hit Music's debut preparation team ‘Trainee A’, stood out. The two were previously revealed as members of Trainee A, but faced disappointment when their debut was canceled.
On this day, the ranking announcement was conducted in reverse order starting from 7th place, and Lee Rio secured 6th place, experiencing the joy of debut confirmation before Lee Sang-won, who ranked 1st. After taking the stage, Lee Rio expressed his gratitude to fans and his parents, and then mentioned Lee Sang-won.
Lee Rio said to Lee Sang-won, “Now it’s just you left. Actually, I did say I wanted to go out first, but it was because Sang-won said he would debut together that I was able to come out. If it weren’t for Sang-won, this place wouldn’t exist. I’m really happy that we can finally achieve the dream we couldn’t fulfill back then.”

At that time, Lee Sang-won, who appeared as a trainee under Grid alongside Lee Rio, revealed, “(After the cancellation of Trainee A’s debut) there were various situations, so I left the agency (Big Hit Music). I was so exhausted that I wanted to quit being an idol.”
It was Lee Rio who helped Lee Sang-won get back on his feet.
He said, “I called Sang-won and told him, ‘I’m going to go on Boys Planet, let’s debut together,’” and Lee Sang-won responded, “Hearing that made me think, ‘Hyung still wants to debut with me.’ The regret of not being able to do it together in the past was so great that I decided to challenge myself with the mindset that this was the last chance.”
