The stage is the happiest and best place, singer Choi Yena has completed preparations to spread her wings.
On the afternoon of the 29th, a showcase was held to celebrate the release of Choi Yena's fourth mini-album 'Blooming Wings' at Blue Square located in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. The venue was bustling with reporters eager to see Choi Yena. Broadcaster Jaejae hosted the event.
Choi Yena expressed her feelings about her comeback, saying, “I spent my time focusing on the new album. I worked hard to show a more Yena-like side of myself.”
After the photo time, Choi Yena presented a live stage of the title track 'I Hate Being Called Nice.' Wearing a blue dress that emphasized freshness, she completed the performance with simple yet lively choreography. The music video that followed showcased her acting as a fresh student in a school uniform, adding more emotion to the music. Notably, actor Lee Do-hyun appeared, drawing attention with his chemistry with Choi Yena.
The title track 'I Hate Being Called Nice' is a song that unfolds with splendid strings and instruments like a summer fireworks display. Choi Yena participated in the lyrics, encapsulating the pure heart of wanting to be just a nice and good person to a loved one, the pain after a breakup, and all the emotions experienced in love in the phrase “I hate being called nice.”
After reappearing from behind the stage, Choi Yena took a breath and briefly introduced the album. Regarding her participation in writing the title track and composing the included song 'Hello,' she explained, “The producer suggested that we write a draft together before the album production. So I participated. I tried to express what I imagined.”

Regarding Lee Do-hyun, who acted alongside her in the music video, she said, “We have a connection through the same agency. I asked him when he was in the military, and he graciously agreed, so I was grateful,” adding, “When I later watched the music video, I was so surprised because it felt like a movie. I thought his presence was extraordinary.”
'Blooming Wings' is an album filled with love and growth narratives presented in the most Yena-like way. It reinterprets the feelings of first love, which bloomed pure like angel wings, the moment of first breakup experienced in an alley where it was raining, and the entire process of love through Choi Yena's unique emotions.
In addition to the title track, the album includes songs like 'Drama Queen,' 'Hello (Goodbye),' 'As Long As It's Not You (Feat. Miryo of Brown Eyed Girls),' and the fan song '364,' all of which contain Choi Yena's pure and poignant songs about various emotions of love.
Regarding the included song 'As Long As It's Not You,' Choi Yena utilized Jaejae's connections to invite Miryo. In this regard, Jaejae said, “Yena asked me if I knew senior Miryo. Although we didn't have a deep relationship, I directly DM'd senior Miryo to help them work together.” He continued, “Seeing the result, I felt very proud to have been the bridge between the two.”
Choi Yena particularly emphasized her connection by revealing that she used to go to karaoke with her family twice a week during her childhood and always sang songs by Brown Eyed Girls. She explained, “As soon as I heard 'As Long As It's Not You,' I thought it would be great if senior Miryo could join, so I requested her.”

Having announced her solo debut with the release of her first mini-album 'Smiley' in September last year, Choi Yena is already a fourth-year solo artist. She has not been lazy in her activities, releasing albums every year, and unexpectedly received a collaboration offer. She had the opportunity to feature in the song 'Loser' from Jin's second mini-album 'ECO,' released on May 16. Regarding this, Choi Yena said, “I felt that my hard work as a solo artist reached senior Jin and the people involved. I was happy that my sincerity seemed to have reached them.”
She continued, “Among the genres I have done, there was also rock, and I think that aspect caught senior Jin's attention,” adding, “It was an honor just to feature, but it was amazing and thrilling to be able to perform on stage as well.”
In conclusion, Choi Yena stated, “As much as I prepared hard, I want to hear that it’s of good quality from many people. I will work hard to spread Yena's wings wide.”
This new album will be released on various music sites at 6 PM on the same day.
