Actor Um Tae-woong's return to the screen with 'Last Homework' has been confirmed for release in August.
'Last Homework' tells the story of a teacher who becomes a temporary homeroom teacher and the children who complete their last homework in their own unique ways. Director Lee Jeong-cheol, known for works like 'Heart 2' and 'Family', is at the helm.
Um Tae-woong, who plays the lead role of 'Kim Young-nam', a temporary homeroom teacher at a private elementary school, expressed his feelings about his return, saying, "It is meaningful to participate in a project after a long time. I felt warm as soon as I read the script."
Regarding director Lee Jeong-cheol, with whom he has worked again after 'Family', he stated, "We have a long-standing relationship since I was a rookie. He is a determined director, and I have gained unwavering trust in him. It is a fortune to work on this project with him."
He also commented on his character, saying, "If there had been a teacher like this, I think I would have had a more fun and happy school life," and added, "'Last Homework' is a warm film that can resonate deeply with its calm yet delicate direction by director Lee Jeong-cheol."
Attention is focused on Um Tae-woong's new steps after spending time in self-reflection following the personal life controversy in 2016.
At the time of the incident, Um Tae-woong was accused of sexual assault by an employee, A, of a massage parlor, but it was revealed that A's claims were false, clearing him of the sexual assault charges. However, he acknowledged charges of prostitution and received a summary prosecution with a fine of 1 million won. He then suspended his acting activities and has been in self-reflection for a long time.
