Director Maggie Kang revealed the behind-the-scenes of 'K-Pop Demon Hunters'.

On the 15th, an interview video with director Maggie Kang of Netflix's 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' was posted on the YouTube channel 'Cosmopolitan Korea'.

In the video, when asked if she saw BTS RM's shoutout, Maggie Kang jokingly replied, "I did. We did it."

She continued, "I couldn't believe it. It's so amazing. I heard that news for the first time, and I take a lot of naps, while my husband doesn't. He woke me up at 6 AM. I was told RM sang 'Soda Pop' live, but I said 'I don't know' and went back to sleep. When I woke up in the morning, I had a ton of messages from people. It was touching. I was grateful that an idol at the level of BTS acknowledged us."

She also shared production behind-the-scenes. Regarding the voice casting for the character Guma, Maggie Kang said, "When I first thought of Guma, I considered Park Jin-young because Guma also wants to be an idol. But then Guma's vibe changed, and he turned into a real villain, so I thought of Lee Byung-hun."

She also revealed the reason for naming the members of the Lion Boys, excluding Jin-woo, as Baby, Romance, Abbi, and Mystery.

Maggie Kang explained, "I named them to be fun," adding, "It was meant to be funny. Excluding Jin-woo, they are all comic characters. In an idol group, there are roles, and since he's the youngest, he's Baby. Mystery has his face covered, so you can't tell what he's thinking. It also helped with the animation since his face is covered."

Regarding plans for Season 2, she said, "I don't know either," and added, "It's not that the portal is closed as viewers might think. HuntRix was thinking of a gold portal, but it closed with a rainbow portal, leaving it a mystery."

Maggie Kang expressed her gratitude, saying, "Thank you so much for loving our movie. While making this film, I was concerned about how it would be received by Korean audiences, but I didn't expect it to receive so much love. It is a great honor to create a film about our culture that Koreans can be proud of. Please look forward to our next project."

The Netflix film 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' depicts the popular girl group HuntRix protecting the human world while competing with the boy group Lion Boys, born from the world of evil spirits, and uncovering their identities. It has received praise for its incorporation of Korean elements and settings, such as ramen and rice, along with captivating OSTs.

Since its release on the 20th of last month, it has ranked first globally in the Netflix film category, and the OST has also made it onto the Billboard charts, gaining worldwide popularity.

Additionally, BTS RM was seen singing along to the OST 'Soda Pop' during a live broadcast. Videos of Cha Eun-woo dancing and challenge videos from groups like Rise, Zero Base One, Tours, and Fifty Fifty Moon Chanel have also garnered attention.
