Comedian Lee Soo-geun's side stated regarding the sale of a building, "It is unrelated to my wife's hospital expenses."
Lee Soo-geun's agency, Big Planet Made, stated on the 16th, "We would like to clarify the facts regarding the article about the sale of a building under the name of Lee Soo-geun's wife, which was reported today," and added, "The report mentioned that the reason for selling the building was related to raising funds for family health issues, but this is not true."
They continued, "The sale of the building was a decision based on personal investment judgment and asset management plans, and it is unrelated to any specific personal matters or health issues," and added, "We hope that misunderstandings do not spread, and we ask for warm interest in Lee Soo-geun."
Previously, in February 2011, Lee Soo-geun and his wife Park Ji-yeon purchased a 165㎡ (49 pyeong) land in Sangam-dong for 1.3 billion won and built a three-story building. After putting the building up for sale on the 7th, there were speculations that it might be to raise funds for treatment as it was recently revealed that his wife Park Ji-yeon is preparing for a kidney transplant.
Park Ji-yeon married comedian Lee Soo-geun in 2008 and they have two sons. During her second pregnancy in 2011, she developed gestational hypertension, which caused kidney function issues, and she received a kidney transplant from her father. However, the transplanted kidney did not settle properly, and she has been undergoing dialysis treatment until now, having registered on the waiting list for a brain-dead donor for a re-transplant in 2021.
Later, her biological brother stepped up as a kidney donor, and if there are no issues, she is expected to undergo the kidney re-transplant surgery this month.
