'28 Years Later' Tops Box Office on Opening Day... Zombie Power Prevails [MK Box Office]

'28 Years Later' has topped the box office, surpassing 'Elio' right from its release.

According to the integrated computer network of the Korean Film Council on the 19th, the film '28 Years Later' (directed by Danny Boyle) attracted 56,678 viewers the previous day, securing the number one spot at the box office. The cumulative audience count is 57,024.

'28 Years Later' depicts the extreme fear experienced by a boy named Spike, born on 'Holy Island,' where some survivors live in complete isolation after a virus took over the world 28 years ago. For the first time, he leaves the island and encounters evolved infected individuals on the virus-ravaged mainland. This film is a sequel to '28 Days Later,' which was released in 2002.

In second place is 'How to Train Your Dragon' (directed by Dean DeBlois), which gathered 20,242 viewers, bringing its cumulative audience to 1,070,399.

Released on the 6th, 'How to Train Your Dragon' is a live-action adaptation of the animated film of the same name released in 2010. It tells the story of a boy named Hiccup (played by Mason Thames), who is not recognized by his Viking tribe due to his unusual appearance and personality, and his legendary dragon Toothless, as they work to change the world.

Third place goes to 'High Five' (directed by Kang Hyung-cheol), which attracted 19,958 viewers, with a cumulative audience of 1,591,289.

Released on the 30th of last month, 'High Five' is a comic action film about five individuals who accidentally gain different superpowers through organ transplants and their encounters with those who seek to exploit their abilities. Actors Lee Jae-in, Ahn Jae-hong, Ra Mi-ran, Kim Hee-won, Oh Jung-se, and Park Jin-young star in the film.

Fourth place is held by 'Elio' (directed by Madeline Sharafian, Domie Shi, Adrian Molina), which attracted 17,047 viewers, with a total of 46,016.

Released on the 18th, 'Elio' is an emotional adventure film about a lonely boy named Elio, who feels isolated on Earth and is suddenly summoned to space, where he meets a special friend. With its unique imagination, relatable story, and timely message, it offers warmth and inspiration that is hotter than the summer heat in a time when connection is deeply yearned for.

As of 9 AM on that day, '28 Years Later' is ranked first in real-time ticket reservations, followed by 'F1 The Movie,' 'Elio,' and 'How to Train Your Dragon.'
