Lee Jae, the protagonist of 'Golden' from 'K-Pop Demon Hunters', revealed behind-the-scenes details of the recording.
In the interview segment of JTBC's 'Newsroom' aired on the afternoon of the 19th, Lee Jae, the composer and singer of the Netflix animated series 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' OST 'Golden', made an appearance.
Lee Jae expressed, "I still can't believe the popularity; it feels like a dream," and added, "I always wanted to create a hit song, but I didn't expect it to come so quickly." He also mentioned, "The challenge videos on social media are so fun that I've watched them all. I enjoy seeing dads dancing in Lumi's outfit."
He played the role of Lumi, a member of the girl group Huntress, and personally composed and wrote the lyrics for the popular songs 'Golden' and 'How It's Done', which have gained traction on the Billboard charts.
Lee Jae shared that he cried a lot while recording 'Golden', saying, "I did the demo recording separately from the actual recording. I cried a lot during the demo recording. I was going through a tough time back then. I put some of my story into the song, and I could relate a lot to the character Lumi." He added, "The song lifted me up. Singing it gave me confidence and hope."
He also remarked, "It feels significant that a song that gave me hope can give hope to others. As a composer, I feel the most proud and it feels like a dream. It feels like my dream has come true."
Meanwhile, 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' tells the story of the K-pop girl group Huntress defeating the boy group Lion Boys, made up of evil spirits, to protect the world with their songs. The song 'Golden', in which Lee Jae participated in composing and singing, has consistently been loved, achieving a total of 8 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
