Pop artist Nancy Lang (real name Park Hye-ryeong, 49) revealed that she has taken on a huge debt due to a fraudulent marriage.
Recently, a video titled "Please Don't Meet Men Like This" was released on the YouTube channel web entertainment 'This is Really the Final'. Guests on the show included Seo Yu-ri and Nancy Lang.
Seo Yu-ri shared, "Around the age of thirty-two, I bought a house. In Yongsan. After achieving that, I started to think about wanting to start a family. At that time, a man appeared. That was my ex-husband. We dated for three months and got married. I said I wouldn't meet unless we were going to get married, and he suggested we marry," recounting her marriage story.
She continued, "I handled the wedding expenses, and we split the living costs. The house was fully financed by him. I didn't know that. He also did all the interior work. If there are things like furniture or cash in the house, the person who takes them out is the owner. That's how the law works. He advised me to take all the watches and such."
Seo Yu-ri mentioned, "The debt is about 2 billion won. I've paid back about 1.3 billion won. While sorting out assets," she said, "People around me suggested filing for bankruptcy. It's not debt I created. (It was created by my ex-husband.) Since I lent my name, I have to pay it back," expressing her sense of responsibility.
Nancy Lang also explained, "In my case, it started at about 800 million won. Over the past seven years, it has increased to 1.4 to 1.5 billion won. The interest, combined from all financial sectors, is 13 million won per month." She added, "(My ex-husband) said he would recover it, but in the end, he didn't. I haven't paid back the principal at all. I'm so envious," supporting Seo Yu-ri.
Seo Yu-ri empathized with Nancy Lang, saying, "It doesn't feel like someone else's story," and expressed her gratitude, saying, "If I get divorced, my image might be tarnished. Nevertheless, there are advertisers who still support me, so I was able to pay it back."
Meanwhile, Nancy Lang drew attention in December 2017 by announcing her marriage registration with Wang Jin-jin through social media. However, in September 2018, she declared the end of their marriage, claiming that Wang Jin-jin had committed acts of violence, such as breaking things during domestic disputes, and had subjected her to revenge porn, confinement, and death threats, leading her to file a complaint with the Seoul Western District Prosecutor's Office on 12 charges, including special assault, injury, special threats, and coercion. The legal divorce was finalized in October 2021.
