Singer Jina has shared her feelings and recent updates after 9 years of controversy surrounding prostitution.
On the 2nd, Jina posted a lengthy message in English on her Instagram.
In her message, Jina, who is reaching out after a long time, said, “I have kept this story buried in my heart for a long time,” and added, “When I was working in the Korean entertainment industry, I had an experience that greatly changed my life.”
She continued, “The most painful part was not the incident itself, but the silence,” revealing, “I disappeared not to hide, but to survive.”
Jina stated that she is no longer the girl trapped in fear, saying, “I am no longer defined by my past, but by the path I choose now,” and added, “I have healed, I have grown, and now I reclaim my voice. This is not to bring out old wounds, but to move forward with honesty and love.”
Jina expressed her gratitude, saying, “I sincerely thank the fans who believed in me until the end,” and added, “I understand those who have left. And to everyone who had to remain silent out of shame, your story is not over yet.”
Jina debuted in 2010 with “I’ll Be Gone” and became a representative female solo artist with hit songs like “Black and White” and “Top Girl.”
However, she completely halted her activities in 2015 after being indicted on charges of prostitution.
At that time, she was accused of having sexual relations with a Korean-American businessman and receiving money. Jina claimed she was in a romantic relationship with the businessman and borrowed money from an acquaintance, but the court sentenced her to a fine in 2016 for violating laws related to prostitution solicitation.
