Actress Lee Young-ae has been issued a summary order to pay a fine of 7 million won to a YouTuber who claimed she was related to former President Yoon Suk-yeol's wife, Kim Geon-hee.

According to the legal community on the 25th, the Uijeongbu District Court's Criminal Division 12 (Judge Kim Kyung-soo) issued a summary order to Jeong Cheon-soo, the former head of Open Communication TV, who was charged with violating the Information and Communications Network Act (defamation), imposing a fine of 7 million won.

Open Communication TV reported that after Lee Young-ae donated 50 million won to the Lee Seung-man Foundation for the construction of the Lee Seung-man Presidential Memorial Hall in September 2023, "Lee Young-ae's donation is related to President Yoon and his wife."

Subsequently, Lee Young-ae filed a complaint against the former head Jeong at the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul, claiming that the information was false.

The Yangju Police Station in Gyeonggi Province, which took over the case, decided not to prosecute Jeong, but the case was forwarded to the prosecution following an objection from Lee Young-ae's side.

The Uijeongbu District Prosecutors' Office decided not to indict Jeong in June of last year, but Lee Young-ae's side appealed, and the higher court, the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office, ordered a reinvestigation in August of the same year and conducted a direct investigation into the case.

Subsequently, the Criminal Division of the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office summarily indicted Jeong in March of this year for a fine. Summary indictment is a procedure that allows the prosecution to impose fines without a formal trial for cases with charges, typically for minor offenses.

Lee Young-ae also filed a lawsuit for damages amounting to 250 million won against Jeong, but she lost the case in December of last year.
