Former CEO of Adore, Min Hee-jin, has been fined for workplace harassment.
On the 24th, Monthly Chosun reported that the Seoul Regional Employment and Labor Agency (hereinafter referred to as the Labor Agency) imposed a fine regarding a workplace harassment complaint filed by former Adore employee B against former CEO Min, stating, "Min's statements could cause physical and mental pain or worsen the working environment."
Previously, B had accused former CEO Min of ▲ workplace harassment (verbal abuse, etc.) and raised allegations of biased intervention in a sexual harassment incident involving Deputy CEO A, while also accusing Deputy CEO A (who has since resigned) of ▲ workplace harassment (sexual harassment, etc.).
The Labor Agency stated regarding the allegations of workplace harassment against former CEO Min, "The statements made by Min to B were continuous and exceeded the appropriate limits of work, causing physical and mental pain to the complainant or worsening the working environment, thus constituting workplace harassment."
In particular, it is reported that the Labor Agency recognized a violation of Article 76-3, Paragraph 2 of the Labor Standards Act regarding the allegations of biased intervention in the sexual harassment case involving Deputy CEO A, which was a key issue in this case.
The Labor Agency concluded that "(Min) referring the investigation results received from the highest authority to Deputy CEO A via company email and advising on objections constitutes a violation of the obligation for an objective investigation," and imposed a fine, thereby closing the case.
B claimed that during their time at Adore in August last year, they were subjected to sexual harassment and workplace bullying by the Deputy CEO. In this process, former CEO Min allegedly actively claimed the 'no charges' of the Deputy CEO, attempted to cover up the incident, and intervened unfairly in the investigation process. In response, former CEO Min refuted B's claims, stating they were untrue and merely a pretext to push for his dismissal as CEO of Adore.
