Rapper Sani (40, real name Jeong San), who is accused of assaulting a bystander with a mobile phone, has been referred to the prosecution.
On the 22nd, the Mapo Police Station in Seoul announced, "Sani was sent to the prosecution without detention on the 10th on charges of special injury."
According to the police, Sani is accused of assaulting a bystander, Mr. A, at the entrance of a park in Mapo-gu at around 8:30 PM on July 28 last year, after telling him to "pull the bicycle straight."
Initially, Sani was charged with special assault, but the charges were changed to special injury after Mr. A's injuries were confirmed. It is reported that Mr. A claimed, "I had a tear near my eye and some of my teeth were damaged."
The police also charged Sani's father, who was present at the scene, with assaulting Mr. A, while Mr. A was also charged with mutual assault. However, during the settlement process, both parties expressed that they did not wish to pursue punishment, leading to the investigation being concluded under the non-prosecution provision.
Earlier, when the assault incident became known, Sani's side stated, "I sincerely apologize to the victim of my assault," and expressed regret for the incident.
He added, "I would like to meet the victim in person and seek forgiveness," and said, "I am also sorry to many people who were disappointed because of me. Please scold me for my mistakes."
