The prosecution has sought a 2-year prison sentence for the defendant who has engaged in years of continuous cyberbullying against actress Shin Se-kyung.
On the 26th, Shin Se-kyung's agency, The Present Company, stated in an official position, "The prosecution has sought a 2-year prison sentence for the defendant charged with continuous cyberbullying against actress Shin Se-kyung."
According to the agency, the defendant repeatedly threatened, maliciously slandered, spread false information, and engaged in insulting behavior towards the actress, her fans, family, and acquaintances anonymously through online platforms over a long period. This has caused serious emotional harm not only to the actress but also to those around her, and the defendant is currently awaiting the first trial after being arrested by the police. This is an unusual measure for a case involving malicious comments.

The Present Company stated, "We have secured a number of additional evidence related to malicious posts and commenters, and we plan to respond to similar cases with the same standards in the future."
During the trial, the defendant's legal representative appealed for leniency, stating, "The defendant, who has been living in seclusion, hopes to return to society and is currently working part-time for 14 hours a week." The defendant is also reported to have stated, "I acknowledge all the charges." In response, the prosecution sought a 2-year prison sentence considering the severity of the repeated threats and malicious comments.
The agency emphasized, "We prioritize the legal rights and interests of our artists and employees above all else, and we will not consider any leniency for the perpetrator," adding, "In the event of similar actions in the future, we will respond firmly and resolutely using all legal means. To prevent innocent individuals from suffering due to someone's distorted desires, the perpetrator must take responsibility commensurate with their actions, no matter how long it takes, under the principles of law and justice." They also expressed gratitude, stating, "The valuable reports from fans have been a great help."
