Singer Baek Ji-young revealed the reason for enrolling her 9-year-old daughter in an international school.
On the 26th, during the broadcast of The Life, a tvN STORY entertainment program ‘Ilta Mom’, MCs Baek Ji-young, Jang Sung-kyu, and Kim Sung-eun shared information about child education.
On that day, Baek Ji-young, who is raising her 9-year-old daughter, expressed her concerns, saying, “Since we live in Gangnam, I have been thinking a lot about how to educate my child in the future.”
In response, Kim Sung-eun, who is raising a middle schooler, a second grader, and a 6-year-old, said, “I am very interested in private education,” and added, “I was really a Daechi mom when my first child was young.” Baek Ji-young responded, “I will call you ‘sister’ and please give me some information,” drawing attention.
Baek Ji-young's daughter, Haim, was attending an international school. Baek Ji-young explained, “I wanted to get out of the system of sending her to many private academies. They have various after-school activities until late. As a working mom, I see that (my daughter) stays at school until she comes home.”
She continued, “It is said that the private education expenses in our country have surpassed 29 trillion won a year. The biggest concern for parents is education,” highlighting a common concern among parents raising children today.
Kim Sung-eun stated, “I am quite serious about education,” and mentioned, “I sent all three of my children to English kindergarten.” She added, “My first child, Tae-han, started soccer and doesn’t study as much as other friends. My second child, Yoon-ha, entered elementary school last year. I feel like she needs to study, so I am making her do it.”
Yoon-ha's schedule resembled that of an adult. Kim Sung-eun explained, “On Mondays, she goes to piano, math, and English. Tuesdays are for essay writing and violin, Wednesdays for math and English, Thursdays for math, violin, math worksheets, and soccer,” and said, “I send her to more than 10 private academies. The monthly education expenses are about 3 million won.”
While managing her academy schedule, Yoon-ha showed tears, saying, “It’s hard,” evoking sympathy.
