Singer Lee Hong-ki confessed his long-hidden complex.
On the 15th episode of SBS's 'My Ugly Duckling', Lee Hong-ki revealed that he has been suffering from a rare disease called 'pyogenic granuloma' for 20 years and shared his hospital visit. This disease is a chronic inflammatory condition that causes persistent boils in areas with many sweat glands, such as the buttocks and armpits.
Lee Hong-ki said, "I have been struggling since middle school. It burst during class, and my school uniform was soaked. I ended up leaving school early. I should have gone to the hospital, but I didn't know back then," expressing the embarrassment he felt during the most sensitive period of adolescence.
He continued, "I couldn't even go to the bathhouse because of the scars. Back then, my butt was my complex," revealing his feelings at that time. He added that he has undergone surgery eight times and, at one point, had to insert a tube to remove pus the size of a palm.
The doctor who examined him explained, "Currently, some inflammation remains in the armpit, and the buttocks are in a good recovery state." For Lee Hong-ki, who still hasn't quit drinking and smoking, there was also cautious advice that "it may improve as male hormones decrease in your 40s."
"Sitting is difficult, lying down hurts more, and getting up is hard," Lee Hong-ki said, adding, "Even now, thinking about that time makes me feel embarrassed and sorry. Please don't neglect your health and make sure to get checked."
