Broadcaster Jeong Ga-eun has secured a job as a taxi driver after much struggle.

On the 16th, a video titled "I went to a taxi company that said they could hire part-time" was uploaded on her YouTube channel 'Wonder Ga-eun_Jeong Ga-eun'.

In the video, Jeong Ga-eun called various taxi companies to ask if they could work part-time. As in the previous video, the reality was harsh. Responses included, "We don't hire women," "We don't do part-time," and "Actors..."

During her search, she learned about the only taxi company that could hire her part-time, 'Handok Transportation'. She revealed, "There aren't many part-time opportunities. I needed part-time work because I can't work full-time for a month after getting hired."

Jeong Ga-eun then visited Handok Transportation for an interview, stating, "I found that there aren't many places where I can work part-time. Most require you to be hired for a month and work the entire month," to which the office manager replied, "We have three types of wage systems," and explained, "There are drivers who want to work part-time."

The office manager continued, "(The hours worked per day and the number of days per week) are flexible," adding, "You can work 3-4 days a week, and you can come and go as you please based on how much you earn."

Additionally, he mentioned, "There is something called a 'daily fare' where you need to achieve a certain amount to deposit into the company, but we don't have that. You just need to earn based on your ability and deposit the amount shown on the meter."

The office manager guided Jeong Ga-eun through the application process and informed her of her acceptance. He said, "This is a remarkable event as she is the first female employee in our company's 65-year history," adding, "We have never hired a woman before. No woman has ever come for an interview, and our company policy has been not to hire women. We are honored that a woman is coming this time."

He also added, "Driving a taxi is different from driving a private car. Unimaginable things happen in a space of less than one square meter. If you drive a taxi, you will learn a lot about life."

In response, Jeong Ga-eun said, "My dad drove a taxi for 40 years. I have a strong service mentality by nature," showing her confidence, but the office manager cautioned, "Unimaginable things happen as a person. If you think of customers as 'my family,' you will experience less stress," offering his advice with concern.

Previously, Jeong Ga-eun divorced a businessman in 2018 and is raising her daughter alone. In 2023, she revealed her financial struggles through YouTube and later announced that she passed the taxi driver qualification exam, drawing attention.

However, as rumors of her retirement surfaced, she clarified, "I'm not experiencing financial hardship that seriously," stating, "It's not as affluent as before, but I'm managing to get by. You don't need to worry too much. I'm still working in broadcasting and preparing hard for the future."
