The drama 'The Insider' is restructuring and forming a new lineup.
Production company Hive Media Corp announced on the 16th, "Song Kang-ho, Go Kyung-pyo, and director Mo Wan-il have withdrawn from 'The Insider', and we are currently in final discussions with a new director."
A representative from Soo-ae's agency, Nua Entertainment, also stated to Star Today, "Soo-ae is withdrawing from 'The Insider'."
The drama 'The Insider' is an adaptation of the 2015 film of the same name starring Lee Byung-hun and Jo Seung-woo. The film, based on a webtoon, is a political thriller that deals with corruption and malfeasance in South Korean society, attracting 7.07 million viewers.
Song Kang-ho and Go Kyung-pyo were originally set to play the roles of Lee Kang-hee and Ahn Sang-goo, portrayed by Baek Yoon-sik and Lee Byung-hun in the film, but they withdrew from the project due to scheduling conflicts. It is reported that Lee Sung-min and Ju Ji-hoon are considering taking on the roles they vacated.
Additionally, director Mo Wan-il, who was in charge of 'The Insider', and Soo-ae, who was set to play the role of a newspaper executive, Kang Young-im, are also stepping down, and a new production team and cast will be involved.
Meanwhile, the drama 'The Insider' was originally planned to be produced in two seasons, but discussions are currently underway to create a 12-episode series.
