City man Ryu Kyung-soo embarks on a new beginning as a novice farm owner.
The new tvN weekend drama 'Unknown Seoul' (written by Lee Kang / directed by Park Shin-woo / planned by Studio Dragon / produced by Monster Union, High Ground) is a romantic growth drama about twin sisters who, despite having different appearances, swap lives through a lie to find true love and life.
In the drama, Ryu Kyung-soo plays the role of Han Se-jin, the owner of the Changhwa Farm in Dosun-ri. Han Se-jin is a returnee to farming who suddenly moved to Dosun-ri two years ago to start strawberry farming. Due to some circumstances, he has abandoned all his career and is now dedicated to strawberry farming, smelling of soil.
Having just started farming, he is terrified even at the sight of a single grub while working in the fields, but with his unique charming personality, he gets along well with everyone and is recognized as a member of Dosun-ri. The reason why the novice farm owner Han Se-jin came to Dosun-ri is drawing attention.
The released photos capture a day in the life of the secretive farm owner Han Se-jin. Unlike a typical farmer, he roams the village in pristine white clothes without a speck of dust and is engrossed in fishing, while also exuding the aura of a farm owner as he inspects a storage room filled with farming tools.
However, Han Se-jin's sophistication, which cannot be hidden even by work gloves and a youth association hat, creates a strange sense of incongruity with the warm Dosun-ri. This has sparked curiosity about Han Se-jin's story, which is as intriguing as a book incorrectly placed on a library shelf.
Moreover, the acting transformation of Ryu Kyung-soo, who will portray Han Se-jin's farming challenges, is also drawing attention. Ryu Kyung-soo stated, "I thought the unique charm of the character and the comforting themes that make up the entire script would be a source of comfort for me, so I approached the work with that in mind," defining Han Se-jin as a "quirky character."
He added, "Although he seems soft and gentle, he has a deep inner world and carries a sense of profound loneliness and loss." In particular, to highlight this charm of Han Se-jin's character, he shared, "I thought that the moments when this character acts lightly and chattily might stem from the deep loneliness and solitude that resides within him. So, I focused on these aspects while acting," raising curiosity about his performance.
Ryu Kyung-soo's unique challenge, landing in a strawberry field filled with the smell of soil, will unfold in the new tvN weekend drama 'Unknown Seoul', which will premiere on Saturday, May 24, at 9:20 PM.
