‘Scarecrow’ Park Hae-soo, Lee Hee-joon, and Kwak Sun-young return in a crime investigation thriller.

Set to be released in the first half of 2026, the Genie TV original drama ‘Scarecrow’ (written by Lee Ji-hyun, directed by Park Jun-woo) tells the story of a detective investigating a serial murder case who unexpectedly forms a collaborative relationship with someone he despises.

Spanning from 1988 to 2019, it is a truth-seeking journey of two men entangled in a bad fate over 33 years, and their alliance of hatred is expected to create intense suspense. Director Park Jun-woo, known for maximizing genre thrills with details in works like ‘Taxi Driver’ and ‘Crash’, guarantees the quality of the production. The reunion with writer Lee Ji-hyun, who collaborated on ‘Taxi Driver’, raises expectations for the birth of a crime investigation thriller of a different dimension.

Above all, there is great anticipation for the meeting of trusted actors Park Hae-soo, Lee Hee-joon, and Kwak Sun-young. Park Hae-soo plays ‘Kang Tae-joo’, a detective who, after being demoted to his hometown of Gangseong, refuses to compromise with injustice. Kang Tae-joo, who sees the Gangseong serial murder case as an opportunity for redemption, encounters his former classmate and the prosecutor in charge, Cha Si-young (played by Lee Hee-joon), leading to a stormy transformation. As he must catch the one he desperately wants to capture, while also having to work with the one he hates, Kang Tae-joo finds himself facing unexpected developments as he delves deeper into the case.

Park Hae-soo, who adds depth to the complex narrative of Kang Tae-joo, expressed his unique determination, saying, “I am very grateful to be part of a project that the excellent production team has devoted a long time to prepare, and I am looking forward to acting with sincere actors. I will live passionately and fervently in this work.”

Lee Hee-joon passionately portrays ‘Cha Si-young’, a prosecutor from an elite family, whose inner self is filled with endless desire. He aims to solve the highly publicized Gangseong serial murder case and use his fame to enter the political arena, embarking on a precarious collaboration with his former classmate and ace detective Kang Tae-joo (played by Park Hae-soo), whom he bullied in school. Expectations rise for Lee Hee-joon, who has built his own acting world, to showcase another transformation as the unpredictable ‘Cha Si-young’.

Lee Hee-joon shared his excitement, saying, “The script was so interesting from the start. It is an honor to be part of such a meaningful work, and I am looking forward to it.”

Kwak Sun-young plays ‘Seo Ji-won’, a journalist from Gang Tae-joo’s school who is righteous and aggressive. Once he bites into a story, he doesn’t let go until the end, keeping a close watch on the police as the Gangseong serial murder investigation unfolds. With her solid acting skills and unique charm, it will be interesting to see how Kwak Sun-young captivates viewers this time.

Kwak Sun-young expressed her joy, saying, “I am happy to meet the viewers through ‘Scarecrow’. I am really looking forward to the energy that the director, staff, and actors will create within the work. I ask for a lot of support and interest.”

Meanwhile, the Genie TV original drama ‘Scarecrow’ will be released in the first half of 2026 through Genie TV and Channel ENA.
