Disney Plus has remained silent regarding the future schedule of 'Knock Off', in which actor Kim Soo-hyun was set to appear.
On the 23rd, an open house event was held at the Disney Plus headquarters located in the Gangnam Finance Center in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Attendees included Choi Yeon-woo, head of local content at The Walt Disney Company Korea, Kim Won-guk, CEO of Hive Media Corp, the production company of 'Made in Korea', and Yoo Jeong-hoon, CEO of Merry Christmas, the production company of 'Killers' Shopping Mall'.
Choi Yeon-woo first stated regarding the strategy and direction of Korean content, "Disney Plus aims to deliver a high level of immersion through high-quality storytelling along with top-notch actors and production teams."
During the Q&A session, questions arose about 'Knock Off', which has halted production and release. In response, Choi stated, "We have carefully reviewed it internally and decided to put the public disclosure on hold," adding, "It is difficult to provide further answers on this matter."
He also refrained from commenting on questions regarding the penalty fee related to Kim Soo-hyun.
Additionally, regarding the upcoming release of 'Made in Korea' in the second half of this year, he avoided direct answers about the personal controversy surrounding actor Jung Woo-sung, stating, "It is a part that is difficult to answer."
Kim Soo-hyun is currently embroiled in controversy due to a scandal involving the late Kim Sae-ron. The family of the deceased has raised issues claiming that Kim Soo-hyun was in a relationship with the underage victim. In response, Kim Soo-hyun's side has denied the allegations, leading to a lawsuit.
As a result, the release of Kim Soo-hyun's 'Knock Off' Season 1, which was scheduled for April, has been indefinitely postponed. Furthermore, if the release is ultimately canceled, discussions about a penalty fee of approximately 180 billion won have emerged. The production cost of 'Knock Off' alone is reported to be 60 billion won, with Kim Soo-hyun's appearance fee reaching 9 billion won.
Jung Woo-sung has been embroiled in controversy after being revealed as the biological father of model Moon Ga-bi's son.
