In 'Mary Kills People', Lee Bo-young encounters Kwak Sun-young, the sister of drug lord Baek Hyun-jin, as an unexpected neighbor, drawing attention with a chilling 'two-shot'.
MBC's Friday-Saturday drama 'Mary Kills People' (written by Lee Soo-ah, directed by Park Jun-woo) is a suspense drama that tells the story of a doctor who assists terminally ill patients in dying and a detective who tracks them down.
In the last broadcast, Woo So-jung (played by Lee Bo-young) went to meet drug lord Gu Kwang-cheol (played by Baek Hyun-jin) to get medication, only to end up being photographed in a threatening manner without her top. Following this, she volunteered to be a hostage after Gu Kwang-cheol threatened to bomb the hospital. Ultimately, Woo So-jung was kidnapped by Gu Kwang-cheol, leading to a 'self-sacrifice ending' that hinted at a whirlwind of events to come.
In the broadcast on the 16th, Lee Bo-young's heart will race as she unexpectedly encounters the drug lord's sister, Kwak Sun-young, right in front of her house in a 'chilling neighborly encounter' scene. The moment Woo So-jung gets out of the car and is about to enter her house, she locks eyes with Gu Hye-rim (played by Kwak Sun-young), who is outside with a child.
As soon as Gu Hye-rim sees Woo So-jung, she greets her with a cheerful wave, and while Woo So-jung initially looks puzzled, she quickly remembers Gu Hye-rim from the hallway of Gu Kwang-cheol's house and freezes. With the appearance of the drug lord's sister, who is shrouded in mystery, Woo So-jung finds herself in a precarious situation, raising curiosity about whether she can escape all these dangers.
Meanwhile, Lee Bo-young and Kwak Sun-young delivered a perfect performance solely through expressions and glances in a 'chillingly anxious neighborly two-shot' scene without a single line of dialogue, impressing everyone on set.
Lee Bo-young captivated attention with her natural emotional gradient performance, showcasing her eyes gradually shaking and her lips sealing shut, as her whole body froze like ice. In particular, she displayed exceptional acting skills by portraying the fleeting feelings of anxiety, fear, and vigilance that arose in Woo So-jung through detailed changes in her expressions.
Kwak Sun-young effectively depicted the duality of a dangerous presence, transitioning from a bright smile to a cold gaze, showcasing Gu Hye-rim's cheerful demeanor and then instantly changing to a chilling look.
The production team stated, "Even though Lee Bo-young and Kwak Sun-young exchanged no words after their encounter, the extreme psychological contrast is clearly evident in the scene," adding, "Please pay attention to how the relationship between Lee Bo-young, who is threatened by drug lord Baek Hyun-jin, and his sister Kwak Sun-young will unfold in the future."
Meanwhile, 'Mary Kills People' will air on the 16th at 10 PM.
