Mrs. Lee Ok-bi, the daughter of poet Lee Yuk-sa, recalled her father who passed away a year before the liberation.
On the 13th, Mrs. Lee Ok-bi appeared as a guest on tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block', where her father, Lee Yuk-sa, had called for independence through poetry.
On that day, Yoo Jae-suk opened by saying, "Lee Yuk-sa passed away at the age of 40 in a prison in Beijing on January 16, 1944, a year before liberation."
Mrs. Lee Ok-bi said, "A telegram came from my mother. After reading it, she told me to clear a room and took out her hairpin. She let her hair down and cried out loudly. She cried so sorrowfully. I remember crying along with her, not knowing what had happened, just because my mother was so sad."
When Yoo Jae-suk mentioned, "The remains of Lee Yuk-sa were recovered by independence activist Lee Byeong-hee," Mrs. Lee Ok-bi responded, "When they opened the coffin, they said my father was covered in blood and could not even close his eyes when he passed away."
Meanwhile, 'You Quiz on the Block' airs every Wednesday at 8:45 PM.
