‘Even the lottery 1st prize goes to work’ (provided by TVING, produced by CJ ENM STUDIOS and Bon Factory, directed and written by Yoon Young-bin, based on the web novel ‘Even the lottery 1st prize goes to work’ [author Seo In-ha]) tells the story of a diligent office worker, Gong Eun-tae (played by Lee Jun-hyuk), who, after winning the lottery 1st prize, goes to work today with a different mindset than yesterday.
With ‘1.3 billion’ being a bit insufficient to dramatically change one’s life, he thought nothing would change, but ultimately, it’s a growth story of an ordinary office worker who changes everything himself, providing deep empathy amidst cheerful laughter. Adding to the anticipation is director Yoon Young-bin, who showcased excellent directing skills through the film ‘Gangneung’, based on the popular web novel of the same name.
The meeting of trusted actors who complete a 200% relatable office landscape excites drama fans even more. Lee Jun-hyuk takes on the role of ‘Gong Eun-tae’, the team leader of Sales Team 5 at Hongseong International, who has lived fiercely all his life to live a safe and ordinary life, aiming to create another life-defining character.
The lottery 1st prize that comes to Gong Eun-tae, who was experiencing a slump thinking that the only thing left at the end of a hard life would be ‘boredom’, gradually changes his attitude towards life. It raises curiosity about how Gong Eun-tae’s relatable growth story unfolds as he takes the lottery 1st prize as a mental insurance and goes to work without fail today.
Lee Jun-hyuk said, “When I first read the script, I talked with a friend who works in a company. It’s a story about office workers who adjust their hearts to each other as they live. I thought this work could soothe the hearts of office workers,” adding, “I think I can have fun chemistry with actors Seo Hyun-woo and Oh Dae-hwan. Please look forward to it.”
Gong Eun-tae’s problematic team member and Sales Team 5’s deputy ‘Yang Jun-ho’ is played passionately by Seo Hyun-woo. He is a character who has gone through a harsh reality of becoming less significant after a golden 20s filled with success. After a year, when Gong Eun-tae gets promoted to team leader first, he falls into a problematic team member but is learning how to face reality and support others.
Seo Hyun-woo expressed, “I was drawn to the interesting premise of what would happen if the moment of winning the lottery, which everyone dreams of at least once, suddenly came to an ordinary office worker, and the realistic and delicate development of the story,” adding, “I want to convey the interesting emotions I felt to the viewers. Oh Dae-hwan transforms into ‘Jung Seon-hyuk’, the team leader of Sales Team 4 at Hongseong International. He is a character who has lived too correctly but faces the harsh reality of repeatedly failing to get promoted. Realizing that relationships are more important than abilities, he decides to become an opportunist to protect himself.
