Newlywed Koyote's Kim Jong-min completed an unprecedented menu for a deserted island restaurant with his luck and sense of responsibility.
In the episode of MBC's entertainment program 'Pook Daheng' aired on the 23rd, newlywed Koyote's Kim Jong-min showcased his responsible efforts just a week after getting married. From sea urchin hunting to fishing, the newlywed's luck exploded, creating a 'seafood buffet' level golden fishing ground. According to Nielsen Korea, the broadcast achieved the highest ratings among Monday entertainment programs for both households and the 2049 demographic, maintaining its position as the 'Monday Entertainment King.'
On that day, Kim Jong-min set out early in the morning to find sea urchin hunting points with the workers, embarking on a serious seafood hunt. After a lackluster performance the day before, he vowed, "Today, I will show my true abilities," but struggled to produce results while 'national representative' Park Tae-hwan continuously caught conchs and sea cucumbers.
However, refusing to give up, Kim Jong-min eventually succeeded in finding abalone before Park Tae-hwan. After capturing three abalones, he compared himself to Park Tae-hwan, who only caught one, saying, "The most expensive thing here is abalone. I didn't say it in front of Tae-hwan, but I won," revealing his inner thoughts and eliciting laughter.
Next, Kim Jong-min led the workers to the sea, calling it a "seafood buffet level golden fishing ground." He particularly raised expectations by mentioning that this was a place where seasonal barley fish and flatfish could be caught. In response to Kim Jong-min's expectations, dozens of seafood varieties, including barley fish, sea bream, mackerel, bass, giant squid, and large flatfish, were caught. Kim Jong-min was even able to laugh, saying, "It seems like a celebratory shot towards the newlywed," as he got splashed by the water from the giant squid.
As the golden fishing ground burst with catches, the captain immediately sliced up barley fish sashimi and treated the workers to a snack. The grilled mackerel, enhanced with a special seasoning, topped off the snack perfectly. Smelling the grilled mackerel, Kim Jong-min expressed his desire to go home quickly, saying, "I want to share this smell," spreading the sweetness of his newlywed life.
Before the main cooking began, Chef Lee Won-il announced new dishes that had never been seen before. For the first time, he made 'sweet and sour pork' using giant squid instead of pork. At that moment, Baekga, who was in charge of cleaning the giant squid, struggled as he fell into a 'black ink hell.' Meanwhile, the giant squid also shot a celebratory splash towards the newlywed Kim Jong-min, raising hopes that good news might come to Baekga, who worked hard, following Kim Jong-min, who got married a week before filming 'Pook Daheng,' and Shinji, who announced her marriage for the first half of next year.
The giant squid that Baekga diligently cleaned transformed into delicious fried squid in Chef Lee Won-il's hands. After tasting it, Kim Jong-min exclaimed, "The fried squid is the best ever!" Chef Lee Won-il successfully completed the first dish, 'Giant Squid Sweet and Sour Pork,' accompanied by a sweet and sour sauce.
The next dish was 'Seafood Bulgogi' made with abalone, conchs, and giant squid. Everyone admired Chef Lee Won-il's creativity in using seafood instead of meat. Additionally, he presented boiled barley fish as a topping, showcasing a new flavor.
Finally, Chef Lee Won-il prepared 'Sea Cucumber Abalone Oisobagi Water Noodle' by adding sea cucumbers and abalone to the pre-marinated abalone oisobagi. The addition of abalone maximized the umami flavor, making the oisobagi the 'kick' of the dish. The water noodles, filled with delicious ingredients, delighted not only the guests but also the workers.
Meanwhile, the preview released at the end of the broadcast heightened expectations with the explosive chemistry between 'CEO An' Ahn Jung-hwan and actor Ko Chang-seok, whom they met on the deserted island. 'Pook Daheng' airs every Monday at 9 PM.
