PD Lee Jin-joo candidly revealed the reason for choosing restaurant reality.
On the 17th, a press conference for JTBC's entertainment program ‘Showdown! Paeng Bong Paeng Bong’ was held at Stanford Hotel Korea in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. Attendees included Choi Yang-rak, Lee Bong-won, Paeng Hyun-sook, Lee Eun-ji, Yoo Seung-ho, Kwak Dong-yeon, PD Lee Jin-joo, and PD Shin Hye-won.
‘Showdown! Paeng Bong Paeng Bong’, which will premiere on the 19th at 7:10 PM, is a reality entertainment show where representative comedians Lee Bong-won and Paeng Hyun-sook, who are deeply invested in the restaurant business, open two restaurants side by side on a small island abroad and compete in business.
PD Lee Jin-joo has mainly directed dating programs such as ‘Yoon's Restaurant’ seasons 1 and 2, ‘Love in Transition’, and the ‘Love Series’. With the increase in restaurant reality programs, what made her challenge the genre again?
PD Lee stated, “The main reason for choosing this type of item was for the ratings. I wanted to work on a program that would achieve good ratings.” She continued, “After ‘Yoon's Restaurant’, there were many variations in restaurant reality programs. I was envious of that.”
She added, “I thought about how to create variations that would be fun and new. I thought that by working with Lee Bong-won and Paeng Hyun-sook, who have made restaurants their livelihood and succeeded, we could create a program that combines both humor and authenticity.”
