Seo Hyun-cheol and Song Jin-woo, husbands of Oh Na-ra and So Yu-jin, are resonating with viewers through their sorrowful daily lives.

In the KBS2 Wednesday-Thursday sitcom ‘The Land of Villains’ (directed by Kim Young-jo and Choi Jeong-eun, written by Chae Woo and Park Kwang-yeon), Seo Hyun-cheol (played by Seo Hyun-cheol) and Song Jin-woo (played by Song Jin-woo) add to the sympathy between the villain sisters Oh Na-ra (played by Oh Na-ra) and Oh Yu-jin (played by So Yu-jin), bringing laughter to the living room.

Seo Hyun-cheol and Song Jin-woo appear as the husbands of Oh Na-ra and Oh Yu-jin, capturing viewers' attention with their 'funny yet sad' (laughable yet sorrowful) aspects from the very first broadcast.

Viewers who watched the tumultuous lives of the two heads of households responded with various comments such as, “Ah, I can relate because he’s like our dad,” “Hyun-cheol and Jin-woo are funny but pitiful,” “The chemistry between the two brothers-in-law is no joke, I’m dying of laughter,” “Seo Hyun-cheol’s character fits perfectly,” and “Jin-woo crashing into Hyun-cheol’s car is hilarious.” As anticipation builds for what stories the two will unfold with Oh Na-ra and So Yu-jin, we look back at the performances of Seo Hyun-cheol and Song Jin-woo up to episode 4.

Seo Hyun-cheol, the Professional Worrywart (?)

In the first episode, Hyun-cheol shocked everyone by being diagnosed with panic disorder. From his first appearance, his extraordinary presence heightened the immersion in the drama. Later, when Hyun-cheol was about to be late for work, he hurriedly left the house. However, he encountered his drunken daughter Seo I-na (played by Han Seong-min) in the elevator and faced a situation where Na-ra had left the car without gas, causing them to stop on the road, adding to the sympathy. Seo Hyun-cheol, perfectly embodying his character, vividly portrayed the anxious day of a K-head of household, drawing viewers' empathy.

Meanwhile, Hyun-cheol humorously appeared to be at the mercy of Na-ra. When Na-ra ran for the resident representative election, he even took a day off from work to focus on her campaign. He cheered for her by dancing, but soon felt the unfairness and anonymously posted her secret in a café. Eventually, when Na-ra was disqualified, it was revealed that Hyun-cheol had been a cigarette runner for middle school students due to a revelation from his election rival Yu-jin. His embarrassment as he tried to avoid the residents evoked pity. Attention is focused on what steps Hyun-cheol, the head of Na-ra's household, will take in the future.

Accident-Prone Song Jin-woo

Jin-woo, who lost his house due to coin investment, is the head of the household but appears to have the lowest status at home, evoking sympathy. As an accident-prone character, he injures his head by hitting Hyun-cheol with his car and makes viewers sweat with his unstable driving while trying to help his father-in-law Oh Young-kyu (played by Park Young-kyu).

Jin-woo headed to the park with Young-kyu to exhibit a sculpture. During the process, he made the mistake of damaging the sculpture and ended up having to cover himself in white paint instead of the sculpture. While desperately holding in his need to urinate, he ultimately committed a faux pas when Young-kyu's acquaintance poked his belly with a pen. In particular, Jin-woo's hasty escape made viewers burst into laughter. There is anticipation for what kind of comedic performance Song Jin-woo will bring to the living room next.

Thus, the brother-in-law duo of Seo Hyun-cheol and Song Jin-woo is amplifying the fun in ‘The Land of Villains’ with their funny yet sorrowful synergy. As their chemistry makes the drama more fluid, curiosity is piqued about whether Hyun-cheol and Jin-woo will retaliate against the villain sisters Na-ra and Yu-jin.

Episodes 5 and 6 of ‘The Land of Villains’ will air on the 26th at 9:50 PM.
