Actor Hong Min-ki has made a strong impression in ‘Trigger’.

Released on the 25th, the Netflix series ‘Trigger’ depicts the story of two men who take up arms for their own reasons amidst a backdrop of illegal firearms being delivered from unknown sources in South Korea and a continuous occurrence of gun-related incidents.

According to Flix Patrol, an online content service ranking site, the series charted in the TOP 10 in 93 countries just two days after its release. It reached number one in four countries, including Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, and South Korea, and ranked sixth in the TV series category.

In the series, Hong Min-ki plays the role of Kang Seong-jun, the leader of a high school delinquent group at Jeongil High School, showcasing a drastically different acting spectrum from his previously bright and kind image. Kang Seong-jun appears as a model student in front of teachers but is depicted as a figure of fear among his peers.

Hong Min-ki's performance transcended simple villain acting. Through meticulously calculated expressions, threatening gazes, and subtle breathing, he fully immersed himself in the character, and this detailed expressiveness instilled a strong sense of real fear in viewers, amplifying the overall tension of the series.

Previously, Hong Min-ki has portrayed various characters in U+ Mobile TV original ‘It’s Night’, tvN’s ‘Love is a One-Lane Bridge’, Tving original ‘Study Group’, and MBC’s ‘Bunny and Brothers’. Having consistently depicted earnest and righteous youth in each work, he successfully transformed his image through ‘Trigger’, once again proving his acting range as an actor.

‘Trigger’ goes beyond being a simple action thriller, directly illuminating the violence and consequences of choices that lie behind gun-related incidents. Within this context, Hong Min-ki's character acts as a catalyst for conflict and serves as a major axis that shakes the emotional core of the series, playing a crucial role in conveying the work's message.

Attention is drawn to Hong Min-ki's expanding acting spectrum.
