So Myung (66, real name So Myung-ho), a trot singer who rose to fame with 'Bye Bye Ya', confessed that he has been battling a malignant tumor.
So Myung will appear on TV Chosun's 'Dad and Me' alongside his daughter So Yu-mi (32) to share updates about his life, airing on the 17th at 10 PM.
According to the broadcast preview, So Yu-mi is preparing for a solo concert in Japan to step out of her father's shadow. After seeing only five audience members at her first concert, So Myung took it upon himself to promote the second concert by preparing flyers, balloons, and promotional banners, personally going out to the streets.
After promoting the concert, So Myung and So Yu-mi had a late dinner together, and it was then that So Yu-mi expressed, "It feels like I'm on a trip for the first time," feeling happy about the newfound leisure.
So Yu-mi had no travel memories with her father. As So Myung's mega hit 'Bye Bye Ya' took off, he was busy attending 5 to 6 events a day, driving alone, and during that time, the family was forgotten. So Yu-mi lamented, "How have we never gone on a trip together?"
So Myung reflected, "I was so focused on moving forward that I think I was really foolish. I lost sight of my truly precious family," expressing regret and remorse. Last year, So Myung discovered a malignant tumor and dedicated a year to surgery and treatment. So Yu-mi recalled, "It was discovered just before it got serious, and they said if it had been five months later, it would have been a big problem."
Curiosity arises about the past stories of this father-daughter duo, both active as trot singers.
Previously, So Myung and So Yu-mi appeared together on KBS's 'Morning Yard' in 2021, showcasing their unique chemistry under the theme 'The Legacy of Celebrity Fathers, DNA Lives On'. At that time, So Myung drew attention with his affectionate introduction of his daughter, saying, "I'm happy to be with Yu-mi, who wouldn't hurt even if I put her in my eye.
