Hong Seong-ki, husband of Lee Hyun-yi, a candidate for the Grand Prize at the ‘2024 SBS Entertainment Awards’, stated that resigning from his company for his wife’s award would be difficult.
The ‘2024 SBS Entertainment Awards’ took place live on the evening of the 29th at 8:20 PM at the SBS Prism Tower in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. The awards ceremony was originally scheduled for December 31 of last year but was postponed due to a mourning atmosphere following the Jeju Air incident.
Lee Hyun-yi, who is nominated for the Grand Prize at the ‘2024 SBS Entertainment Awards’, expressed her concerns in a VCR, saying to Lee Kyung-kyu, who was dressed as ‘Burak Teacher’, “Lee Hyo-ri, Lee Young-ja, Park Na-rae, and Kim Sook all won the Grand Prize when they were single,” and asked, “Do only unmarried women receive the Grand Prize?”
In response, Lee Kyung-kyu said, “Isn’t your husband working for the world-renowned company Samsung Electronics?” and added, “If everything goes smoothly, you can’t win the Grand Prize. Your husband should resign, gamble, and be in a difficult situation.”
Lee Hyun-yi then replied, “Gambling is not acceptable, but I might consider resigning for the Grand Prize. However, my husband’s opinion is the most important.” Taking the microphone, Hong Seong-ki showed a perplexed expression and said, “I can think about parental leave, but resignation...”
Meanwhile, the ‘2024 SBS Entertainment Awards’ was hosted by Jeon Hyun-moo, Jang Do-yeon, and Lee Hyun-yi. This year’s Grand Prize candidates include Yoo Jae-suk, Jeon Hyun-moo, Shin Dong-yeob, Lee Sang-min, Seo Jang-hoon, Lee Hyun-yi, and Kim Jong-kook.
