KBS anchor Kang Seung-hwa recently commented on the directive from KBS management regarding the replacement of hosts.
During a press conference held on the 27th to celebrate the 30th anniversary of KBS1's 'Genuine Goods', Kang Seung-hwa stated, "It's hard to accept the logic that the host should be replaced simply because they have been in the role for a long time," adding, "I do not wish to step down for that reason while I am hosting."
She continued, "If I am unable to host as well as before, or if I become a burden to the program or if change is necessary, I can step down at any time. However, it is difficult for me to accept stepping down for reasons that are hard for viewers to understand, such as numbers; that is my personal opinion."
Previously, according to the KBS PD Association, producers from the Cultural Documentary Center received a directive on the 3rd stating, "Programs with hosts who have more than 5 years of experience will have their hosts changed without exception. Submit replacement plans by tomorrow (Tuesday)." It was reported that Kang Seung-hwa, who has been hosting 'Genuine Goods' for 6 years, was also included in this directive. The KBS PD Union has expressed opposition to the related directive.
'TV Show Genuine Goods' is the only domestic antique appraisal program that uncovers genuine and valuable items buried over time, airing every Sunday at 10:55 AM.
