Hollywood actor Ethan Hawke has opened up about his feelings regarding his split from ex-wife Uma Thurman 20 years ago.
In a recent cover interview with fashion magazine GQ Hype, Ethan Hawke recalled the media attention surrounding his divorce from Uma Thurman in 2003, stating, “It was humiliating. Even the positive coverage felt humiliating.”
Ethan Hawke and Thurman met while filming the movie 'Gattaca' in 1997 and got married in 1998. They have a daughter and a son together, but separated in 2003, and after Uma Thurman filed for divorce in 2004, they officially parted ways in 2005.
Notably, during their divorce, rumors surfaced that Ethan Hawke was having an affair with their children's nanny, Ryan Shawhughes. Although Ethan Hawke denied the rumors, he eventually remarried Ryan Shawhughes in 2008 and has two daughters with her.
On the other hand, Uma Thurman, after her marriage and divorce from actor Gary Oldman, dated businessman Arpad Busson and gave birth to a daughter in 2012, but they completely separated in 2014.
Meanwhile, in a 2006 interview after her divorce from Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman expressed her respect for him, stating, “I will not speak ill of the father of my children,” and emphasized the importance of maintaining peace for the family.
