Shim Hyung-tak and Saya announced the news of their second child’s birth.
On the 22nd, during the broadcast of Channel A's entertainment program ‘Recent Men's Life - Bride Training’ (hereafter ‘Bride Training’), the couple Shim Hyung-tak and Saya invited traditional hanbok researcher Park Sul-nyeo to their home two weeks before childbirth, receiving special gifts and encouragement that touched the hearts of everyone in the living room. Notably, the couple exclusively revealed the birth of their second child, ‘Shim Ha-ru’, on ‘Bride Training’.
On this day, Shim Hyung-tak did morning yoga with Saya, who was two weeks away from giving birth, and massaged her back. He expressed his overwhelming feelings, saying, “In two weeks, there will be one more person in this house.”
However, Shim Hyung-tak revealed, “The doctor said, ‘When becoming a dad, everyone cuts the umbilical cord, but it might not be cut all at once, so don’t feel fear about that.’ But honestly, I’m still scared.” In response, Saya calmly reassured him, saying, “Just think of it as intestines.”
Encouraged by Saya's advice, Shim Hyung-tak jumped up and began unboxing baby supplies that filled the living room hallway. During this, Park Sul-nyeo made a surprise visit to their home.
Having previously made the couple's wedding hanbok, Park Sul-nyeo came this time with heavy hands full of gifts for childbirth, asking Saya, “Is Shim Seobang causing you any trouble?” Saya hesitated to answer, prompting Park Sul-nyeo to say, “Shim Seobang has a good nature, but if he seems nice to others, it can be stressful for his wife,” and then asked, “Does Shim Seobang like to drink?” When Saya nodded, Park Sul-nyeo emphasized, “He should not just reduce drinking, but quit altogether.”
Eventually, Park Sul-nyeo asked, “When the child becomes an adult, how old will Shim Seobang be?” and added, “You need to be more mindful and take care of your health. That’s why I keep bringing up drinking.” Shim Hyung-tak responded, “I feel like I’m going to throw up,” but promised, “I will quit.”
After Shim Hyung-tak declared he would quit drinking, Park Sul-nyeo finally unpacked the gifts for childbirth. She presented a ‘gold thread’ adorned with charcoal and chili peppers, saying, “This is a gift for a pregnant woman at full term.” Everyone was surprised by the handmade ‘gold thread’, a part of traditional Korean culture, and Park Sul-nyeo also gifted a baby hanbok embroidered with ‘Sae-bok-i’ (the baby’s nickname) and crane patterns. Additionally, she taught the couple how to braid the string and attach it to the baby hanbok, even guiding them in sewing to complete a special baby hanbok.
Shim Hyung-tak shed tears, saying, “Since we don’t have any adults around us, preparing for childbirth together has been scary and difficult. I’m so grateful that you are doing what a grandmother should do.” Park Sul-nyeo replied, “I’m getting emotional too. I’m glad you two are doing well,” and then earnestly requested, “I hope you quit drinking completely.”
Shim Hyung-tak vowed, “I will only drink when it’s really necessary,” saying, “The tears are gone.” He also made a surprise announcement about the birth of their second child, sharing the heartwarming moment of meeting their son, Shim Ha-ru, for the first time.
Meanwhile, ‘Bride Training’ airs every Wednesday at 9:30 PM.
