Singer Lee Young-ji has reported being a victim of a scam involving the globally popular character 'LABUBU'.
On the 10th, Lee Young-ji posted a video on her SNS account, saying, "Please let me know if this LABUBU is real or not," while unboxing a toy box.
Having pulled the secret color LABUBU she wanted, Lee Young-ji expressed her joy, saying, "This is the real one. I just pulled the secret one, right?"
However, in a subsequent post, Lee Young-ji revealed her disappointment, stating, "They said my LABUBU is fake. It was a fake LABUBU. There’s no ring and no card."
She continued, "I’ll buy the real one and unbox it again. Everyone, don’t be deceived, buy the real one... I was so excited thinking I pulled the secret on my first try."
Previously, last month, Ailee member Wonhee also confessed to being a victim of a fake LABUBU doll. Wonhee reacted to the fake, saying, "This is definitely not real. It's so ridiculous."
LABUBU is the representative character of the Chinese toy company Pop Mart and has recently gained immense popularity both domestically and internationally. Due to fierce competition for purchases, the resale price has reached 205 million won.
LABUBU is a character with long, pointed ears and shark teeth, created by Hong Kong designer Kasing Lung, who won first place in a Belgian illustration competition.
Many stars, including BLACKPINK's Lisa, Rihanna, and David Beckham, have posted photos of LABUBU on their SNS, drawing attention.
