‘Potato Research Institute’ Lee Sun-bin and Kang Tae-oh delivered excitement with a drunken kiss ending.
tvN's weekend drama ‘Potato Research Institute’ (directed by Kang Il-soo and Shim Jae-hyun, written by Kim Ho-soo) has successfully pressed the excitement button for viewers in just two episodes. Kim Mi-kyung (played by Lee Sun-bin) recalls her favorite romance novel ‘The Sexy Director’ when she sees the dangerously charming So Baek-ho (played by Kang Tae-oh). Unknowingly, Kim Mi-kyung pulls So Baek-ho in for a surprise kiss, raising heart rates significantly.
On this day, Kim Mi-kyung initiated her defense strategy against So Baek-ho. Despite warnings not to underestimate the Potato Research Institute, So Baek-ho remained unfazed. Kim Mi-kyung was displeased with So Baek-ho's inscrutable nature. She successfully hinted that So Baek-ho had recently taken over the position of Hong Soon-ik (played by Kim Gyu-cheol), a local resident of Yeong-ri, prompting the elders to take action. However, when things unexpectedly escalated, Kim Mi-kyung apologized to So Baek-ho, offering to cover the village development fund, but So Baek-ho refused her proposal, insisting on sticking to the rules. In response, Kim Mi-kyung turned away, stating that she wouldn’t ask for help later.
Contrary to her expectations, So Baek-ho continued to face difficulties. Various locations on the way to the Potato Research Institute were blocked by the property of Byeon Yi-jang (played by Lee Sang-hee), preventing So Baek-ho from passing. Ultimately, So Baek-ho had no choice but to ask Kim Mi-kyung for help. Meanwhile, waiting for So Baek-ho was work in the potato field. With aphids appearing in the pepper field next to the seed potato cultivation area, all staff from the Potato Research Institute were mobilized, and Kim Mi-kyung seized the opportunity to call So Baek-ho to help out.
Amidst the colorful work uniforms, So Baek-ho, dressed in a neat suit, soon found himself rolling around and getting covered in dirt. His slightly clumsy side, despite being the perfect director from head to toe, made Kim Mi-kyung smile.
The change between Kim Mi-kyung and So Baek-ho came unexpectedly. Contrary to expectations, So Baek-ho attended the after-party gathering of the Potato Research Institute without missing it. As he fell asleep drunk, Kim Mi-kyung, recalling the ‘sexy director’ from the cover of the romance novel she had chosen as her ideal type, felt her excitement button being pressed. Unknowingly, she pulled at So Baek-ho's collar and kissed him, and the ending where So Baek-ho opened his eyes at that moment left viewers breathless.
As predicted by Lee Yong-joo (played by Kim Ga-eun), “You’re definitely going to have a heart flutter,” the unpredictable romance between Kim Mi-kyung and So Baek-ho is drawing attention to how it will unfold.
‘Kim Mi-kyung’s ex-boyfriend’ Park Gi-se (played by Lee Hak-joo) learned through a chance encounter with Kim Hwan-gyeong (played by Shin Hyun-seung) that Kim Mi-kyung was at the Potato Research Institute. At the same time, he recalled that So Baek-ho had been temporarily assigned to the Potato Research Institute. It raises curiosity about what kind of variable he will become in the romance between Kim Mi-kyung and So Baek-ho.
Episode 3 of ‘Potato Research Institute’ will air on the 8th at 9:20 PM.
