The group Ailit (ILLIT) has delivered excitement with a music video capturing the rollercoaster moments of first love.
Ailit (YoonA, MinJu, MoKa, WonHee, IroHa) released the music video for ‘Borrowed Cat (Do the Dance)’ from their mini album ‘bomb’ on the Hive Labels YouTube channel on the 16th at 6 PM.
The music video depicts Ailit, who is in love, moving forward with determination. The scene where they suddenly brake while riding bicycles upon seeing a cat jumping out feels like watching a cartoon. In that moment of falling, WonHee locks eyes with a boy and falls in love at first sight. The members, who had short hair, seem to have their hair grow longer as their feelings blossom.
Soon after, Ailit embarks on a journey together to find the boy. Starting from a small village to a huge city, they clumsily yet boldly navigate beyond their world, growing a little more with each step. The five members accidentally spot the boy on the escalator across from them, and finally, WonHee experiences an exciting moment that feels like the beginning of their first date at an amusement park.
‘Borrowed Cat (Do the Dance)’ is a French house genre song that captures the magical feelings of first love. The romantic yet dreamy introduction contrasts with the lively hook and beat, leaving a strong impression. The unique lyrics in French, reminiscent of cats, such as ‘Gungshilnyang’, ‘Doomchitnyang’, are powerful and unforgettable after just one listen.
The so-called ‘Cat Stretch Dance’ and ‘Nyangnyang Dance’ showcased in the escalator group dance scene of the music video are the killing parts. The choreography, delicate yet nimble like a cat's movements, keeps the eyes glued from start to finish. This hand gesture, which has become Ailit's signature, is expected to spark a challenge trend in short-form content once again.
Meanwhile, Ailit will hold a ‘Friends Night Picnic’ at the outdoor stage of Yebit Island in Seocho-gu, Seoul, on the 17th, where they will perform ‘Borrowed Cat (Do the Dance)’ for the first time. Various booths will be prepared for enjoying a picnic before and after the performance, making it a special ‘night picnic’ with Ailit.
