Former volleyball player Kim Yohan has cleared all accusations of illegal gambling and personal life controversies.

His agency, Janggun Entertainment, announced on the 18th through an official statement that “A person, referred to as A, who recently made retaliatory threats against Kim Yohan, has been sentenced to 1 year in prison by the Seoul Central District Court.”

They continued, “In June 2023 and January 2024, A also raised baseless allegations of illegal gambling and personal life controversies, disseminating them online, and was prosecuted for extortion, threats, and violations of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation), receiving a guilty verdict. As a result, Kim Yohan suffered damages, stepping down from commentary and broadcasting roles.”

The agency revealed that after receiving a guilty verdict, A harbored resentment against Kim Yohan and began another round of retaliatory threats in June of last year, stating, “A was prosecuted for violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes (retaliatory threats) and was sentenced to 1 year in prison on the 30th of last month.” They added, “Separately, Kim Yohan won a civil lawsuit against A for defamation due to the dissemination of false information, clearing all accusations.”

Finally, Janggun Entertainment expressed, “It took a long time for the truth to be revealed, but we thank everyone who supported Kim Yohan, who has endured severe mental distress. We will spare no effort in providing full support for Kim Yohan to continue his various activities in the future.”

Kim Yohan has been loved as a volleyball star for a long time due to his warm visuals and skills. He was also a key player in winning the gold medal in men's volleyball at the 2006 Doha Asian Games. After retiring, he has been active in commentary and appeared in JTBC's 'Mungchyeo Ya Chanda' Season 2.
