The agency, One Hundred, stated in an official position on the 18th, "As soon as we received the information that Ju Haknyeon was involved in a personal issue, we took immediate action to suspend his activities and took time to closely verify the facts."
They continued, "As a result, we took the seriousness of the matter heavily and clearly recognized that it was difficult to maintain trust as an artist. Therefore, after sufficient discussions with the members of The Boyz, we have finalized Ju Haknyeon's withdrawal from the team and the termination of his exclusive contract."
One Hundred added, "We deeply ask for your understanding that this decision is an unavoidable measure for the protection of The Boyz members and the team," and announced, "Ju Haknyeon will cease all activities as a member of The Boyz as of today."
Previously, One Hundred reported on the 16th that "Ju Haknyeon has temporarily suspended his activities due to personal circumstances," but did not disclose specific reasons.
Two days later, a media outlet reported that Ju Haknyeon was spotted having a private meeting with a former Japanese AV actress, which was captured by the Japanese media Weekly Bunshun, and that Weekly Bunshun had sent an inquiry to the agency regarding the meeting.
Born in 1999, Ju Haknyeon gained recognition by participating in Mnet's 'Produce 101' Season 2 and debuted with The Boyz in 2017.
