BTS members Jimin and Jungkook shared stories from their military leave period.
On the 11th, Jimin and Jungkook, who were discharged from the military, communicated with fans through a live broadcast on the fan communication platform 'Weverse'.
First, Jimin said, "After J-Hope and Jin were discharged, they worked really hard. Watching them made us feel like we were lacking a lot," and smiled. He mentioned their increased weight during military service. On that day, both of them repeatedly said they needed to lose weight.
Jimin then added, "Around the time I was a corporal, I had a drink with the members during our leave. When I saw V there, I thought he was retiring. I was surprised because he had gained a lot of weight, but when I saw his face yesterday at the discharge ceremony, I thought he must have gone on a strict diet to return to his previous shape," which made everyone laugh.
The two were discharged together from the 5th Artillery Brigade in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province, that morning. After sharing their discharge feelings with the press at a public sports field near the base, they reportedly moved to the HYBE headquarters to greet the company officials.
Jimin and Jungkook enlisted together in December 2023 as active-duty soldiers and served as a gunner and a cook (kitchen soldier) in the 5th Division Artillery Brigade, respectively.
BTS has taken a step closer to a full group comeback as all members are now military veterans, following Jin and J-Hope, who were discharged last year, and RM and V, who were discharged the day before. Suga, who is serving as a social service agent, will be discharged on the 21st.
HYBE celebrated the members' discharge by wrapping the exterior of their headquarters with the phrase 'WE ARE BACK', signaling a full group comeback. This phrase will be displayed until the 29th. On this day, about 1,500 fans gathered in front of the HYBE headquarters to welcome Jimin and Jungkook's discharge, following the previous day's events.
