"J-Hope's Journey Across Genres Continues"
Following the release of BTS member J-Hope's digital single "Sweet Dreams (feat. Miguel)" on the 7th, international media have been praising the track. They focused on J-Hope's new transformation and highlighted his expanded musical capabilities.
American music publication Billboard introduced the new song, stating, "This track completes a dreamy groove with J-Hope's smooth rapping and Miguel's signature sweet voice." The publication evaluated, "Continuing J-Hope's musical journey across genres, it showcases his artistic spectrum while adding another meaningful song to his solo discography."
American music outlet Consequence of Sound described J-Hope as an artist who transcends the boundaries of rap and vocals, adding, "'Sweet Dreams (feat. Miguel)' shows a different texture compared to his first solo album 'Jack In The Box,' which was inspired by rock sounds."
Grammy.com also noted, "J-Hope has moved away from the old-school rap style showcased in his first solo album 'Jack In The Box' (2022) and the special album 'Hope On The Street Vol. 1' (2024), presenting a sweet love song alongside Miguel's smooth voice."
In an interview with the famous American music magazine Rolling Stone, J-Hope explained about the new song, "I have come to understand the warmth that stability brings. While talking about the emotion of 'love,' I wanted to explore another side of myself, and I believe that process will become new inspiration."
He also expressed a strong belief, saying, "I know there are many people watching and supporting everything I do. So, I always try not to forget that responsibility." Finally, regarding the upcoming North American tour, he stated, "I think it will be a tour that shows all aspects of J-Hope. It will be a stage that serves as a window to look into the entirety of who I am."
Additionally, many international media outlets, including American magazine Teen Vogue and British music magazine NME, quickly reported on J-Hope's new song release.
Meanwhile, J-Hope is set to appear on the popular American NBC program "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on the 11th at 12:35 PM, where he will perform on stage for the first time with Miguel, who featured on the new song.
